Expensive Things

  My mother’s friend Svetlana told the story about one poor girl who didn’t allow herself anything expensive to buy. Sometimes women like to spend much money on some expensive things but she couldn’t do that. The girl’s friend is Margaret. She was from the very poor family where the education had been taken the most important place. But she had never thought about the lack of money, if it wouldn’t one peculiar case.
  As it turned out Margaret studied very well and was invited to the so called “cocktail party” by her respectable teacher. She didn’t refuse the invitation but there was a problem with her dress. Unfortunately Margaret hadn’t any dress for the cocktail party. Because she was too witty, nobody liked her and of course she didn’t dare to ask for someone to lend the dress to the party.
  The only thing she had was her jewel – brooch. She got it from her grand grandmother. But nothing helped. The teacher was conscious of impossibility to buy a new cocktail dress. Margaret had never thought of it. It was just a dream to go to the cocktail party and besides look smart there with a new cocktail dress.
  So, the teacher had a mind to cope with this situation and decided to do her a present, that is to buy the new dress for her. Anyway Margaret deserved it. They went together to the expensive store “Smart” and chose very beautiful cocktail dress made from silk. It wasn’t so long and it was black, neat and so glamorous dress. And the teacher gave her advice to put her jewel – the brooch to the dress.
  She couldn’t believe in her happiness. Everything was so nice. Margaret danced a lot at the party and was the happiest girl in the world. The dress suited her brilliantly and suited her neat figure. So, she was the most beautiful and really pretty at the party. It seemed that none of men there could stand on her beauty.
